Older Adults' Sexuality from a Gender and Health Perspective
Abstract
Public debates about the sexuality of older adults have gradually been accepted by society due to the rapid increase of the elderly population globally. Despite differences in age, physical health, and mental health, the elderly are capable of and actively engage in sexual activities like young individuals. While the elderly may or may not be satisfied with their sexual life, they are compelled to avoid their sexual activity due to physical and psychological declines, as well as societal prejudices, which adversely affect their quality of life. This article presents positive perspectives on health, gender, and sexual satisfaction among the elderly, thereby, providing valuable information and knowledge for researchers and policymakers to support successful aging for the elderly.
