Development imbalance and economic security in ASEAN

Abstract

Development imbalance and economic security as well as the relationship between development imbalance and economic security have emerged as relatively new issues drawing attention not only from the researcher circle, but also from policy makers. More attention is increasingly given to this relationship in the context of globalization and increased economic integration, as well as great changes in the late half of the twentieth century and early twenty-first century. It is the changes in the regional and international situation that has exerted about changes in the thinking and strategy of national and regional security protection and maintenance. In that context, it is necessary and useful to study on issues pertaining to development gap and security in the new situation, including economic security, to formulate policies for the development and protection of national, regional and global security. These are also the contents, about which the book "Development gap and economic security in ASEAN" seeks to make clear.
