Communist Party of Vietnam with private economy in Vietnam today

  • Lê Huy Thực

Abstract

In an attempt to make clear of standpoints of the Communist Party of Vietnam on private economy in the country today, the author conceptualized the Party’s views on this issue through its congresses, from the 6th Congress (1986) to the 10th Congress (2006). The Party has consistently recognized “private economy as an important integral part of the national economy” as well as “as one of the drives boosting the economy”. To prove the role of the private economy, the author indicated contributions made by this economic sector to the social life in Vietnam, which can be seen over the last twenty years of renewal. At the same time, the author fingered at weaknesses and negative sides of relevance. Finally, he analyzed and clarified viewpoints, commitments and policies directed at boosting development of the private economy in Vietnam today, which were determined at the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 9th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
