The world and Vietnam’s economy in 2014-2015: Recovery efforts for propelling into a new growth orbit

Abstract

The world economy began to propel into a new growth orbit at lower level, though stabler and more balanced in comparison with the past. However, economic growth rates are not the same among different country groups: the growth rates of emerging economies keep slower, and developed economies recovers more rapidly. Global economic growth is facing many risks. As for Vietnam, the economy of the country in 2014 has been gradually escaping from difficulties and signals of upturns are explicitly recognized. The recovery trend in 2015 was fairly stable. 2014 and 2015 was the time for the country to review 30 years of Doi Moi (Renovation) and to identify arising challenges and opportunities.

A book entitled The world and Vietnam’s economy in 2014-2015: Recovery efforts for propelling into a new growth orbit chief authored by Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Xuân Thắng (Social Sciences Publishing House, Hanoi, 2015) will show readers a panorama of the economy of the world, different countries and regions in 2014 and in the early months of 2015; at the same time, analyze the prominent features of Vietnam’s economy in 2014 and in the early months of 2015 locating in the roadmap of 30 years of Doi Moi based on analytical framework for policy. This article briefly introduces the main content of the book.
