Intellectual labor in a knowledge-based society and some thoughts on the case of Vietnam

  • Lưu Minh Văn

Abstract

Model and resources are always major issues linked with development of countries and nations. In the space of nearly three decade of Doi Moi, Vietnam has seen considerable changes in all walks of life, particularly in the economic sphere. However, the economic quiz of Vietnam is also facing big challenges: moving from a horizontal development strategy to a vertical development strategy in order to “catch up with” growth of developed countries. Thus, identification of characteristics of a knowledge-based society, to which developed countries are in transition, is necessary for realization of the country’s “catch-up with” strategy.

This article presents views of knowledge-based society of Peter F. Drucker who is acknowledged to be one of the two theorists laying the foundation of knowledge-based society, with a hope to provide food for thoughts on matters facing Vietnam on its development path.
