A study on Jean-Francois Lyotard's View in "The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge"

Abstract

Jean-François Lyotard is a French representative of postmodern philosophy. He became a pioneer who first introduced the concept “postmodern” into philosophy with his publication “The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge”. Here, crisis caused by incredulity toward “metanarratives” is discussed by J.F. Lyotard as one of the outstanding features of knowledge in the present era. The article analyzes some of J.F. Lyotard’s ideas on the characteristics of the postmodern era and knowledge presented in his above-mentioned book.
