Challenges for Korea's Diplomacy in the 21st Century

  • Phan Thị Anh Thư

Abstract

The paper provides discussions on critical issues the Republic of Korea encounters in order to achieve their two strategic goals in the 21st century: national reconciliation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and increasing influence as a “middle power” in East Asia. On the other hand, it is also an attempt toward objective analysis and assessment of Korea’s adjustment of foreign policy over two decades after the Cold War. On drawing on Korea’s historical experience, the article aims at making suggestions for Vietnamese diplomacy in the context of regional integration.
