Democracy at the tertiary education level in Vietnam today

Abstract

Democracy has been becoming a general and irreversible trend of our era. The presentation of the self, “breaking the barrier” erupted from old stereotypes, by the young generation – a generation sensitive to fresh cultural and ideological flows – is  a good, applaudable but also worrisome matter. Consequently, democracy in education in general and at the tertiary education level in particular has become a burning topic, drawing attention from the media, the mass public as well as specialists, scientists and decision-makers.

This paper attempts to analyze the purposes and contents in implementing democracy at the tertiary education level; at the same time, to present the current situation of implementation and incorrect understanding of democracy at the tertiary education level in our country today.
