Abstract
Current situation of Beef livestock at Households in Dak Lak Province
The survey was conducted at farmers in 6 communes of 3 districts: Krong Bong, Ea Kar, M’Drak,
Dak Lak province during the period from April 2021 to June 2021 according to the appraisal method,
participatory rural areas (PRA) (Participatory Rural Apraisal). Primary information was collected
through direct interviews with cow farmers at the farm households. Interview information is based
on the printed survey forms. The results show that: The number of beef herd of Dak Lak province
increased from 2018 to 2021 with an average growth rate of 1,8%/year. The Kinh group mainly raises
reproductive hybrid cows of 26,31%, the ethnic minority group mainly raises the breeding Vang
cow of 37,5%. Beef cattle are raised 100% by Kinh households; among ethnic minorities, crossbred
cattle raised for meat 43,01%. People have invested and applied techniques in cattle raising such
as growing grass, using agricultural by-products, artificial insemination, and disease vaccination.
