Abstract

Effect of LHRH-A
3 on reproductive performance of Thai frogs
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of using LHRH-A3 hormone on reproductive
performance of Thai frog (Rana tigerina). The experiment was designed according to the one-factor
comparative batching method, including: 1 control group (DC) did not use sex hormones; and 3
experimental groups used LHRH-A3 with different dosages: TN1 0.04 , TN2: 0.08 and TN3 0.12 mg/
kg weight, each group included 15 pairs of parent frog. The experiment was repeated 3 times. All
plots apply artificial rain spray to ensure natural conditions for frogs to breed easily. The results
show that the use of sex hormones had the effect of stimulating the parent frog to reproduce, the
laying rate of the TN2 and TN3 plots was 100%, while the spawning rate of the control group was
72.22% and TN1 was 77.78%; Reproductive yield of frogs in group TN3 was the highest in egg
production, reaching 2,712.00 eggs, TN2 group 2,480.00 eggs, TN1 achieved 2,233.33 eggs and the
lowest in control group reached 2,134.67 eggs (p<0.05). Fertilization rate was highest in TN3 group
(80.79%), followed by TN2 (79.53%), TN1 group (71.23%) and the lowest in control group (70.64%).
Similarly, the highest hatching rate was in plot TN3 (89.24%), followed by plot TN2 (82.02%), plot
TN1 (81.40%) and the lowest in plot DC (80.68%). Therefore, using hormones with a concentration
of 0.12 mg/kgP frogs to stimulate reproduction was the most appropriate.
