Abstract
Evaluation of the productive performance of the frst generation
of Hac Phong chicken breed
The study was conducted to evaluate the growth and productive performance of the first
generation of Hac Phong chicken breed. The results indicated that survivability of young chicks
between rooster line and hen line group were 95.60 and 95.70% at 0-8 weeks and 98,00 and 98.40%
at 9-20 weeks. The body weight of rooster line and hen line group were 28.5 g/head and 27.8 g/
head at 01 day old chickens. At 8 weeks, the body weight of male and female reached 636.4 g/head,
528.4 g/head of rooster line group and 633.4 g/head, 528.4 g/head of hen line group. At 19 weeks the
corresponding values were (1,248.0 and 1,032.0g) and (1,210.0 and 953.5g). Feed intake to 8 weeks
combined with male and female chickens were 1,706.00 g/head of rooster line group and 1,682.00 g/
head of hen line group. At 9-20 weeks, data for feed intake of rooster line and hen line group were
(5,830.00 g/male and 5,283.00 g/female) and (5,764.00 g/male and 5,219.00 g/female), respectively. Age
at laying eggs reached 136-138 days of age. Egg production and egg-laying rate, respectively, ranged
147.50-147.70 eggs/hen/72 weeks and 40.30-40.60% with consumption of 2.49kg feed/10 eggs. Egg
weight at 38 weeks ranged 42.20-42.50 g/egg. The percentage of fertilized eggs reached 94.50-94.70%.
The percentage of hatched eggs/total eggs and the rate of hatched eggs/fertilized eggs ranged 83.30-
84.40% and 88.10-89.10%. The number of the best quality chicks/total eggs was 75.4-078.50%.
