The Journal of Human, Family and Gender Studies (the Journal) is an organization affiliated to the Institute of Human, Family and Gender Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. The Journal operates under the Press License No. 121/GP-BVHTTDL dated 05/09/2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. The magazine has 2 publications in Vietnamese (one publication per 02 months period) and in English (01 publication per year).

The functions and tasks of the Journal are: organizing the editing and publication of publications related to propaganda, mobilization, consultancy, criticism and organizing the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, the government’s policies and laws on people, family and gender; announcing and introducing theoretical and practical research results and basic issues on people, family and gender in socio-economic development in Vietnam and the world from the perspective of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; announcing policy orientations, scientific information and training in the field of research of the Institute for Human, Family and Gender Studies; is a scientific forum of the industry and interested readers.

                                                           SUBMISSION RULES

  1. Submissions published in the Journal of Human, Family and Gender Studies must have content consistent with the purpose and principles of the Journal, with a specialized, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to human, family and gender studies.
  2. The author of the paper needs to ensure that the paper is an original research work. Commitment not to plagiarize in any form. Do not submit papers to multiple journals simultaneously. Do not republish (except in special cases). Comply with regulations on research ethics. No plagiarism, data fraud, false citations, copyright infringement, conflicts of interest, and publication copyright; The AI tools used and the content in the paper should be reported. The author is solely responsible for the accuracy of the AI and may not list the AI as a co-author.
  3. Submissions are computerized on one side of A4 size paper, using MS Word software, Times New Roman font, size 12, top margin: 2.5 cm, bottom margin: 2.5 cm, left margin: 3 cm, right margin: 2 cm.
  4. Research papers are between 5000 and 15,000 words in length (including references). Translated paper need a photocopy/ scan of the original foreign language document. Must be enclosed with the name of the author, title of the paper, title of the book, journal, publisher and year of publication of such document. Translation sources must ensure copyright.
  5. Research papers that ensure the basic structure as follows are prioritized for publication:
  • Title (Vietnamese and English): usually no more than 3 lines.
  • Author's name/author group, contact information.
  • Research field
  • Abstract (Vietnamese and English): no more than 300 words each.
  • Keywords (Vietnamese and English): at least 3 keywords, at most 5 keywords.
  • Introduction: persuade readers to be interested in the paper by clarifying: the necessity/reason of the study; identify research problems and point out new findings.
  • Theoretical background: including research overview, theoretical origins and relevant empirical studies to clarify the theoretical basis of the research; pointing out research gaps.
  • Research methods: clarify the research methods and data used in the paper, the conformity with the approach that the paper chooses to achieve the research objectives, note to clarify the steps of processing research data, the software used (if any).
  • Results and discussion: present research results in a concise, clear manner. If the paper has data analysis, it is necessary to specify which table/graph/drawing the data is analyzed, etc. (avoid falling into the re-description of the figures that have been shown in tables, graphs, etc.). Tables, graphs, drawings, etc. with names (placed above, bold, middle alignment), cited sources (placed below, italics, middle alignment), figures for commas, and guaranteed to match black/white printing, numbered in logical order with the paper. The papers clearly explain the contributions of the paper, the author's comments, the advantages and limitations of the research. Point out the relationship between these results and the research results that have been shown in the previous research overview/theory.
  • Conclusion: summarize the main research results and suggest further research directions (if any). Suggest/recommend policies based on the findings of the study.
  • Appendix (if any);
  • Statement of scientific contributions and information on the origin of the paper (if any; related to research topics, projects, seminar materials, etc.)
  • Acknowledgments to the supporter and/or related organizations and individuals (if any)
  • References following to APA standards (Proper names of people, localities, foreign language terms verbatim, not transcribed into Vietnamese)
  1. Documents cited in the paper must be presented as follows:
  • If the author is Vietnamese: write the full name, put it in parentheses and write in the following order: full name of the author, year of publication. For example: (Nguyen Van A, 2016).
  • If the author is a foreigner: use the author's full surname and year of publication, do not include abbreviations in this section. For example, (Toffler, 1991).
  • When quoting verbatim, quotation marks must be included and additional page numbers are required. For example: (Nguyen Van A, 2016: 10); (Toffler, A., 1991: 50).
  • When quoted in the paper, the works are in ABC order, separated by semicolons (;); page number quoted after the colon (:).
  1. The research paper must have a References section at the end of the paper numbering listed by alphabet order,... The arrangement in the references is as follows: Author's name. The year of publication is in parentheses (for documents of the same author, the documents that are published/published first will be ranked first). The name of the document (title of the book, the name of the journal: in italics; the name of the paper in the journal or chapter of the book is not in italics). Publisher. Place of publication (if any). References to the same year are distinguished by adding a, b, c after the year: e.g. 2025a, 2025b. If the paper title already has parentheses or quotation marks, it should remain the same in the references. If the paper is referenced from the library database, the paper is treated as a printed edition. If the paper does not have an author, use the paper name itself as a reference and rank the references based on the first letter.

  1. The editorial board evaluates manuscripts based on scientific quality, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, organization, etc. Fair and transparent evaluation process. Keep paper information confidential during the review process. Do not use undisclosed information for personal benefit. Revoke papers when fraud or critical errors are detected. Respect the opinions of the reviewers. have the right to correct the paper at the request of the Journal (we will discuss with the author if it is necessary for the author to edit). The Editorial Board has the right to use papers published in the Journal (paper version) to publish on the digital platform according to the development orientation of the Journal.
  2. Papers submitted to the Journal must have full contact information, including:
  • Full name of the author, academic title, academic degree, title (if any);
  • Address of the place of work and telephone number and email address;
  • Which branch/interdisciplinary submission is submitted according to the sub-discipline/interdisciplinary of the State Council for the Title of Professor (the author actively chooses).
  • Papers submitted for topics, research projects, dissertations, and dissertations.
  1. Review fee:

We does not charge a fee for reviewing papers ordered by the Journal.

Other papers will be notified of the review fee along with the pre-review results.

                                                                                                                    Editorial Board

 

              THE PROCESS OF REVIEWING, EDITING, PUBLISHING AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT

                          IN THE JOURNAL OF HUMAN, FAMILY AND GENDER STUDIES YEAR 2026

The author sends the article to the Editorial Board via the email address: tapchi.ihfgs@gmail.com. Daily (except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), the officer in charge of the review process will check the email, respond to the author to inform the author that the journal has received the article.

  1. Article review

Submitted articles are evaluated by the editors according to the rules of the Journal of Human, Family and Gender Studies on article structure; the citation complies with regulations; the presentation of tables/tables and figures (if any); expressive style and language;

- If the article meets the requirements according to the rules, the editorial board of the journal shall transfer the editor-in-chief/deputy editor-in-chief to read and approve the content of the article (overview; methods, samples, data and analysis techniques; scientific arguments, arguments and logic of the article; scientific findings; theoretical and practical values,  etc.);

- If the article does not meet the requirements according to the rules, there are 2 cases:

+ Case 1: The article can be edited and supplemented upon request and reconsidered. The Editorial Board replied to the author's email and asked the author to edit the article to meet the rules of the Journal.

+ Case 2: The article cannot be edited, or has content that is not in line with the principles and purposes of the Journal, or has a point that is contrary to the views of the Party and the State, etc. The editorial board will send a notice to the author about the rejection of inclusion in the review process.

The time for the Editorial Board to reply to the author of the article is within 07 days from the time receiving the submission (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays).

After obtaining the opinion of the Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief, the Journal notifies the author of whether the article is accepted or not accepted for inclusion in the review process.

  1. Article Critique

The Journal's review process is a closed review. So, all articles after pre-review will be encrypted (remove information related to the author of the article such as author's name, address, place of work, etc.) before being transferred to review. The review process is carried out according to the following steps:

Step 1: After the article has been preliminarily approved, the editorial board based on the content of the article proposes to the Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief about the reader to criticize/comment in accordance with the expertise. The Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief gives opinions on the readers who criticize/comment on the article (2 people).

Step 2: The Editorial Office assigns the officer in charge to send the article to 2 reviewers to criticize/comment according to the form prescribed by the Journal. The reviewers send the review form back to the Editorial Board (via email or a signed hard copy). In particular, there is an evaluation conclusion on agreeing or disagreeing to publish the article according to:

+ The article is satisfactory; no editing is required.

+ The article needs to be edited, no need to resubmit the review.

+ The article needs to be edited and resubmitted for review.

+ Unsatisfactory articles.

The time for review/comment is between 7 - 10 working days (1st reading). For in-depth and complex articles, the review/comment period can be as long as 20 days. Special cases. The Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief will give opinions.

In special cases (not shown on the diagram): 2 opposing criticisms, the editorial board shall consult the Editor-in-Chief;

Step 3: The Editorial Board summarizes and sends the comments, suggestions and conclusions of the reviewers to the author. Specifically:

+ For articles that are accepted for publication and do not need to be edited, the editorial board shall send an email notification to the author and include the article in the editing process.

+ For articles that are accepted for publication and need to be edited, the editorial board shall send an email notification to the author and request the author to complete the article according to the comments of the reviewer. After the author submits the edited or supplemented article according to the reviewer's opinion, the officer in charge shall transfer the criticism or the reviewer with comments and edits for the 2nd and 3rd time,... When the reviewer has an opinion confirming that the article is of quality assurance, the Editorial Board will include the article in the editing process. The maximum time for authors to edit and supplement articles per comment is 7-10 days (counting from the date the Editorial Board sends an email to the author).

The time for subsequent critiques/comments is as specified in Step 2.

+ For articles that are not accepted for publication, the editorial board shall send an email notifying the author that the article is not accepted for publication.

  1. Article Editing: After the review process is completed, the article moves on to the editing process.

Step 1: The officer in charge of the Editorial Office prepares the Table of Contents from the source of the articles that have completed the review process. The Editor-in-Chief/ Deputy Editor-in-Chief approves the Table of Contents. After reviewing the Table of Contents, the Editor-in-Chief/ Deputy Editor-in-Chief assigns editors to editors. The time to complete is within 05 - 07 working days.

 Step 2: The editor reads and corrects the articles, actively communicates with the author of the article to complete the article, and follows the specific provisions in the Article Submission Rules. Edited articles need to keep the track-change. The completion time is within 10 working days.

Step 3: The editor transfers the edited articles as assigned to the Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief for approval. After that, the Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief shall transfer the approved articles back to the editor for further editing (if any). The time to complete is within 07 working days.

  1. Magazine publishing.

Step 1: The editor in charge of the editorial office sends the Table of Contents and all approved article files to the editor assigned to arrange the pages and pages of the magazine. The time to complete is within 05 working days.

Step 2: The editor in charge of the editorial office transfers the completed magazine number file and the magazine number cover to the Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor-in-Chief for approval before going to the printing house. At the same time, send the information to make the cover of the Magazine issue to the printer. The completion time is within 05 working days.

Step 3: The editor in charge of the editorial office edits and completes the approved magazine number file before going to the printing house. After that, it was printed and submitted to the editor-in-chief for approval at the printing house. The time to complete is within 05 working days.

Step 4: After receiving the print approval from the editor-in-chief, the editor in charge of the editorial office sends the file to the printer to print the magazine number.

Step 5: After the magazine number has been printed, it will be deposited, issued, donated and exchanged according to regulations.

  1. Participant Responsibilities

Author's responsibility: Ensure the article is an original research work. Commitment not to plagiarize in any form. Do not send articles to multiple magazines at the same time. Do not republish published content (except in special cases). Comply with regulations on research ethics. No plagiarism, data fraud, false citations, copyright infringement, conflicts of interest, and publication copyright; The AI tools used and the content in the article should be reported. The author is solely responsible for the accuracy of the AI and may not list the AI as a co-author.

Responsibilities of the editorial board: Evaluate manuscripts based on scientific quality, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, nationality, organization, etc. Fair and transparent evaluation process. Keep article information confidential during the review process. Do not use undisclosed information for personal gain. Revoke articles when fraud or critical errors are detected. Respect the opinions of the reviewers.

Responsibilities of reviewers: Invited reviewers are responsible for objective and scientifically based assessments. Keep the article under review absolutely confidential; do not share or use undisclosed information.  Do not participate in the review if there are related interests.
