Abstract
This article focuses on comparing the similarities and differences between Jia Dao's (a Chinese poet) Tang Dynasty-style quatrain "Crossing the Tang Can river" and Basho's (a Japanese poet) haiku in terms of content and artistry, including themes, subject matter, emotional flow, genre, structure, tone, and language. The aim is to highlight the intellectual convergence and stylistic differences between the two works. Cónequently, this study reveals the diverse and unique creative beauty of each author and work from two different literary traditions, as they both explore the theme of homeland from the perspective of individuals far from home.
