Abstract
The article examines how to develop students’ mathematical application competency through
the Grade 7 learning theme “Geometric Solids in Real Life.” Based on the orientation of the 2018
General Education Curriculum, it clarifies the role of this competency and proposes a teaching process
grounded in experience–exploration–application. This process is implemented through learning activities
connected to real-world contexts such as designing house models, identifying and calculating cylindrical
and rectangular-prism objects, and analyzing product packaging structures. The experimental results
show that the theme not only enhances students’ spatial reasoning but also increases learning motivation
and significantly improves their real-world problem-solving competency
