DESIGNING EDUCATIONAL GAMES TO ENHANCE PUBERTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AMONG 5TH-GRADE STUDENTS AT A MY HIEP PRIMARY SCHOOL, AN GIANG
Abstract
Education on adolescent health care plays a crucial role for 5th-grade students during the transitional period to lower secondary school. This study was conducted at A My Hiep Primary School (Cu Lao Gieng Commune, An Giang Province) with the participation of 16 teachers and 49 5th-grade students, aiming to assess the current situation, needs, and effectiveness of integrating educational games into teaching the topic “Adolescent Health Care.” A questionnaire-based survey was administered before and after the implementation of learning games integrated into Science lessons following the 2018 General Education Curriculum. The findings reveal that teachers demonstrated a high level of awareness regarding the role of educational games in fostering students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes; however, their competence in designing and organizing such games remains limited. Students showed enthusiasm, active participation, and positive improvement in awareness after the learning activities. Based on the results, the study proposes several suitable games to enhance the effectiveness of adolescent health education in primary Science instruction.
