CURRENT SITUATION OF SELF-STUDY OF STUDENTS LEARNING FRENCH AT NHA TRANG UNIVERSITY TODAY

Abstract

Self-study is a very important activity for students in general and Nha Trang University students in particular. This is considered to be a central activity of the university study process. This study was conducted to fully evaluate the self-study reality of students learning French at the university, finding out the causes of this problem and thereby proposing some practical solutions. The author used a combination of many methods: document analysis and synthesis, practical observation, quantitative methods with a survey to collect opinions of 114 French students and in-depth interviews with 5 lecturers. The results show that most students spent time self-studying, but the time spent on this activity was too little. In addition, students did not have a reasonable self-study method and lacked basic self-study skills. On that basis, the article also suggests a few proposals to improve students' self-study, thereby contributing to improving the quality of training.
