STATUS OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN VIETNAM
Abstract
The mental health of adolescents (middle school and high school students) in the context of globalization, digital transformation and other social changes is quite a topical issue and received the attention of the authorities and the social community. Reality has shown significant consequences for the life, learning and growth of a group of students who have been experiencing mental health problems. Through the Questionnaire method (for 38.860 students) and from other secondary data sources, this study identified the mental health care needs of middle and high school students in Vietnam today. At the same time, it was discovered that, although the scores on mental health awareness among students were relatively high, negative attitudes and prejudice regarding mental health were still present. For that reason, when experiencing mental health problems, many students tend not to share with teachers, parents or relatives, but often choose different ways to solve their problems themselves, such as: Play games, surf the web, stay alone, even hurt yourself or commit suicide. This article gives some suggestions on appropriate solutions to prevent and overcome the above situation.
