CURRENT SITUATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOUNTING IN VIETNAM - CAUSES, AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract

Environmental accounting is a specialized field of accounting that measure, record, and report costs and benefits related to environmental protection and improvement. Although Vietnam has made progress in raising awareness about environmental protection in recent years, environmental accounting has not yet been widely and comprehensively applied. There are no specific regulations on a standardized system or clear legal framework to guide businesses in implementing environmental accounting. This lack of regulations makes the application of environmental accounting inconsistent and challenging across enterprises. Therefore, improving environmental accounting in Vietnamese businesses is necessary and feasible from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Within the scope of this article, the author aims to clarify: (1) The current state of environmental accounting in Vietnam; (2) The limitations of environmental accounting in Vietnam; (3) Solutions to enhance environmental accounting in Vietnam.
