Abstract

In the burgeoning digital era, Blockchain technology is emerging as a revolutionary innovation, capable of reshaping numerous fields, from finance and supply chains to public administration. With its inherent characteristics of decentralization, transparency, security, and immutability, Blockchain promises to bring significant transformations to how data is created, stored, and shared.

Concurrently, public sector accounting – a pivotal domain responsible for financial management, resource allocation, and ensuring the accountability of state agencies – also faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Currently, public sector accounting continues to grapple with inherent issues such as data management complexity, the risk of fraud, a lack of transparency in public transactions, and difficulties in timely and reliable information traceability.

It is at this intersection that the relationship between Blockchain and public sector accounting becomes particularly crucial. Can this distributed ledger technology provide solutions to current “pain points,” establishing a more efficient, transparent, and reliable public accounting system? From automating processes, minimizing errors, and enhancing real-time auditing, to bolstering public trust in public financial management, Blockchain presents a highly promising future.

This article will explore the potential and impact of Blockchain on public sector accounting today, analyzing opportunities to optimize processes, enhance transparency and accountability, while also addressing the challenges related to technology, legal frameworks, and human resource

readiness in this digital transformation journey.
