Abstract
This paper presents the findings of a study on the digital competence of K-12 teachers in Thanh An island commune, a particularly disadvantaged area due to geographical conditions and transportation infrastructure. The study employed a self-assessment questionnaire based on the DigCompEdu framework, translated into Vietnamese and administered via Google Forms. Teachers evaluated their proficiency on a six-level scale for each digital competence component. The results indicated that most teachers reached level 3, with notable differences in teaching level and age. Overall, secondary school teachers demonstrated higher proficiency than primary school teachers, particularly in selecting digital resources. Teachers over 30 assessed themselves lower in digital communication skills. These findings emphasize the necessity of professional development programs on digital competence for teachers, especially older primary school teachers, to enhance teaching effectiveness in digital transformation.
