Abstract

This paper investigates the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) principles in designing word exercises that integrate selected moral education themes for fifth-grade students. Mathematics not only fosters logical thinking but can also serve as a medium for cultivating positive moral values, particularly when word exercises are embedded in meaningful and relatable situations. The primary objective of this study is to develop a structured design process for such problems based on RME principles, while also broadening the scope of RME by incorporating moral education into mathematics instruction.
