The role of cooperatives in Vietnam today

Abstract

      Cooperatives are a fairly common type of collective economy, operating in many areas of social life. In recent times, the Party and State have issued guidelines and policies on continuing innovation, development and improving collective economic efficiency. Using the document review method, the article aims to generally describe the current situation of cooperatives in Vietnam. Besides, the article also shows that cooperatives have affirmed their important role in creating jobs, ensuring food security, reducing poverty and developing socio-economic development. However, cooperatives are also facing a series of problems in human resources, capital as well as policy-related issues.
