CURRENT SITUATION OF COMMUNITY ECO-TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CON SON, CAN THO CITY

Abstract

Community eco-tourism (CET) develops in conjunction with local people. Primarily using methods of field survey, interviewing tourists and local people doing CET, the article has assessed the current situation of development in Con Son, Can Tho city. The results show that Con Son has a lot of potential to develop CET.  The number of visitors to Con Son increased 10 times and tourism revenue increased more than 11,6 times from 2016 to 2019. However, Con Son CET is hindered by factors such as limited human resources and people working at home, tourism promotion policies are not effective, infrastructure has not been developed and tourism development is poor, linkages in tourism development are still weak and tourism promotion struggles with a lack of attractive tourism products.
