ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION OF ECO-TOURISM WELDLANDS PROTECTION CON DAO NATIONAL PARK

Abstract

In the context of the degradation of wetlands, the importance and use of wetlands is a strategic direction pursued by several countries over the world. Con Dao National Park (Ba Ria - Vung Tau provice) is the first marine protected area in Vietnam.  Having various valuable coastal wetland ecosystems, this area has great potential for tourism development. This paper is conducted with the objective of assessing the current status of ecotourism development associated with wetland conservation of Con Dao National Park. The research results pointed out that with the highly increasing number of tourists, the coastal wetland ecosystem of Con Dao National Park is also under pressure, which creates challenges for conservation. This is an important reason to develop appropriate solutions, not only developing tourism but also effectively protecting the coastal wetlands of Con Dao National Park
