Abstract

The experiment has been conducted at the breeding ostrich farm in Kinh Mon district - Hai Duong province in order to determine the suitable green bean pod rate for egg-laying ostrich diet to take full advantage of local abundant byproduct materials with low cost. The experiment has been carried out under the completely randomized model for 1 factor with 3 green bean pod rates in the diet: 15%, 20% and 25% (3 repeating times). The results have shown that, in the laying period, the egg productivity in the diet with 20% green been pods is highest with 40,08 eggs/head; embryonic rate reaches 69.41%; hatchability/embryonic egg rate gains 69.49%; the feeding cost to produce a breeding ostrich is lowest with about 395.5 thousand VND. In the non-laying period, the diet with 25% of green bean pods has positive effects on fat reducing process, ensuring nonfat nor thin body and uniform mating capacity to prepare for the next laying period. Also, feeding cost/head is lowest (1.014 million VND).
