Teachers’ professional development – the world’s conception and some recommendations for Viet Nam

Abstract

        Despite great effort, the movement on the trend of enhancing professional competence for teachers in Viet Nam has been going on so slowly. One of the reasons for such a problem is that we have not clarified the viewpoint of professional development for teachers – the issue that has been studied by the teachers and educators throughout the world for the past three decades. Based on this awareness, the article mentions the world’s conception of professional development for teachers, including profession and orientations of professional development, professional development for teachers, recommendations and suggestions for teachers’ professional development in Viet Nam.
