Actual situation of performing the procedure of changing dressings and washing wounds after surgery of nursing-major students of Hai Duong University of Medical Technology at the Department of Surgery - Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital in 2020
Abstract
Objectives: To determine the status of nursing-major students at Hai Duong University of Medical Technology implementing the procedure of dressing change – wound washing after a surgery and factors related to the implementation of that procedure at the Department of Surgery - Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital in 2020. Research method: cross-sectional description on 150 students who are practicing clinical at the Department of Surgery by observing 1 dressing change for each student. Results: Improper implementation of the process. There are 38 second-year students, accounting for 25.33% and 112 third-year students, accounting for 74.67%; the percentage of female students accounted for the majority with 88.67% and male students only accounted for 11.33%. Performing the technique of dressing change – wound washing satisfactorily: second-year students practice achieved 55.26%; it's higher than third-year students who achieved 35.71%. Factors related to the results of dressing change - wound washing: Gender factor: male performing the procedure satisfactorily accounted for 52.94%; while this rate in women is only 39.09%. This difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.2). School year factor: second-year students practice achieved a higher percentage, accounting for 55.26%, while this rate of third-year students accounted for only 35.71%. This difference is statistically significant (p < 0.05).
