THE DIVERSITY OF TRADITIONAL REMEDIES OF M’NONG AND LAO COMMUNITIES IN BUON DON DISTRICT, DAC LAC PROVINCE

Abstract

          From the result of investigation of traditional remedies of M’Nong and Lao communities in Buon Don district, Dac Lac province, the authors have counted 238 remedies belonging to 18 different disease groups. Among them, the group of treating parasitic worm and digestive disease is the highest with 44 remedies; the second place is the group of woman after giving birth with 41 remedies; the group of treating cold and fever with 29 remedies; two groups of tonic medicine and treating dematological diseases with 18 remedies for each; 3 other disease groups with over 10 remedies; the remain groups with under 10 remedies. 197 medicinal plants used in 238 investigated traditional remedies are allocated into 69 different families such as Pteridophyta (2 families), Monocotyledone (9 families) and mainly in Dicotyledone (58 families). Among them, Fabaceae is the highest with 17 species falling into 10 genera; Rubiaceae is the second with 15 species falling into 11 genera and Euphorbiaceae with 12 species falling into 9 genera.
