RESEARCH ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION SOLUTIONS IN EFL TEACHING AT VIETNAM MARITIME UNIVERSITY
Abstract
This research delves into exploring the level of information technology application in the actual teaching and learning of foreign languages as assessed by lecturers and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Vietnam Maritime University. The population were 20 lecturers and 147 third-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Studies, Vietnam Maritime University. Quantitative method (online surveys) was utilized to collect the actual teaching and learning practices of lecturers and foreign language major students who utilize information technology applications, exploring the difficulties, challenges, as well as the desires of both teachers and learners. The data shows that both surveyed groups agree on the advantages that information technology brings, especially in developing English language skills, searching and understanding online resources, etc. However, there are still certain difficulties and risks in integrating technology: the lack of equipment and technological support, difficulty in classroom management, and students' dependence on technological devices. Based on the survey results, the author group proposes solutions to support and promote the digital transformation process in foreign language training.
