THE EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS ON NITRIDING LAYER APPLIED TO ALLOY STEEL 30XH2MɸA.

Abstract

This paper presents the research results on Nitriding method applied to alloy steel 30XH2MɸA (a material which is widely used in industry in general and defense industry in particular) in the common environment - NH3, with positive pressure compared to the atmosphere. Major parameters such as temperature, coefficient of nitrogen bN  have been investigated to assess their effects on the depth of Nitriding layer as well as on its other properties: stiffness and abrasion resistance. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the abrasion resistance of the steel can be tripled thanks to Nitriding layer.
