Abstract

Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been carried out on 34 patients with lung cancer. The average age of the patients is 55.86±15.77. The eldest is 79 while the youngest is 22, the group of patients aged 40 and over makes up 79.4%. The male/female ratio is 3.25/1 with male accounting for 76.5% and female accounting for 23.5%. Specimen rate obtained by EBUS-TBNA has been relatively high, which is equivalent to 86.3%. Positive result measured in central tumors has been 72.7% and that in peripheral tumors has been 69.6%. In 34 biopsied patients, 5.9% has been recorded with high temperature, 11.8% has been found with bleeding, and none of the cases has been recorded with pneumothorax. In conclusion, this is a safe, accurate method with low complication rates.
