Applying technology in accounting activities in small and medium enterprises: Opportunities and challenges

Abstract

This study examines the application of technology in the accounting process of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. Using qualitative research methods, based on the study of relevant literature, the article highlights the opportunities offered by technology, including: Improving the accuracy of information; improved efficiency, real-time insights, and flexible decision-making. However, there are a number of barriers and challenges to technology adoption, such as limited awareness; lack of resources; resistance to change; and data security concerns. Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations are made to address these challenges, thereby helping SMEs to exploit the benefits of technology and promote productivity and efficiency in their accounting activities.
