Abstract
Objectives:To investigate respiratory symptoms of children under 5 years when exposured to biomass fuel.
Material and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study among 87 children under 5 years living in households exposured to biomass fuel in Can Giuoc district, Long An Province from August 2017 to August 2018.
Results: For children under 5 years, the respiratory symptoms significantly affected such as 77% cough, 51% wheezing and 41.9% sputum. The symptoms of children when in cooking areas are eye pain account for 35%, runny nose account for 36%, and cough account for 36%.
Conclusions: When exposured to fuel mass, the respiratiory symptoms of children are cough, wheezing and sputum.
